Filippo Salerni, born in Milan in 1985, has been captivated by the world of art from the very beginning of his journey. He honed his skills at the prestigious academies of fine arts in Brera, Milano and Carrara, where he immersed himself in sculpture courses. During his time there, he mastered classical techniques such as lost-wax casting and marble sculpting, laying a solid foundation for his artistic endeavors.
Driven by an insatiable appetite for creative exploration and possessing a keen fascination for metalworking, Salerni embarked on a collaboration with the renowned Lopane workshop. Situated as a historic restoration hub for vintage automobiles, this partnership exposed him to the age-old craft of panel beating, traditionally employed in the "ateliers" of Italy's esteemed car body designer-builders. Over a span of more than two years, he delved into the intricacies of this artisanal practice, acquiring a deep understanding of its secrets and techniques.
Since 2020, Salerni has dedicated himself to crafting a compelling body of work within the confines of his Milanese studio. This artistic journey culminated in December 2022 with the unveiling of his solo exhibition, "Sculture 2021". Within this showcase, Salerni delves into the essence of materiality, exploring its mechanical transformations and the consequential movements of solids in space. Drawing inspiration from the avant-garde aesthetics of Futurism, his creations pulsate with a dynamic energy, offering viewers a captivating glimpse into the intersection of tradition and innovation.
